The Vikings have been in the NFL longer than I’ve been alive! They’ve been a part of the league since ’61 and have two Super Bowl appearances under their belt. It wasn’t always success for the Vikings though; they had some rough years before they put together some of the teams we know today.
I remember my first Vikings game like it was yesterday: I was 7 years old and it was freezing cold at the Metrodome. It was also my first time experiencing a professional sports team in my hometown. I remember staring in awe at the stars on the field, never wanting the game to end. The Vikings ended up winning that game and it only added to my joy.
It’s been a wild ride ever since. As a fan, I’ve seen my fair share of heart-breaking losses and thrilling wins. From Hall of Fame players like Cris Carter, to iconic plays like the Minneapolis Miracle, I’ve been along for the ride.
Even when there were down years, I always remained positive, knowing that every up has a down. I’ve been through the highs and lows, and I continually remind myself that, no matter what, the Vikings are still my team.
The fan base is incredibly passionate, loyal, and expressive; which makes attending games so much more fun! I’m a part of the Skol chants, the horn blowers, and am always ready to dance when the team does well.
From the iconic purple, to the raucous cheers, to the incredible players and personnel, the Vikings have held a special place in my heart for nearly two decades. The memories that I have will stay with me forever.
As I mentioned earlier, the Vikings have had an up and down history; however, the team has come a long way. In the last few years especially, the Vikings have asserted themselves as one of the top teams in the NFL. They added talent like Kirk Cousins, stepped up their defense, and won multiple division titles.
I think the Vikings have one of the brightest futures in the NFL. Their development of younger players and recruitment of veterans prove that this team is built for success in the coming years. There are already some exciting things on the horizon such as a new stadium and I’m really looking forward to them.
The Vikings always find a way to amaze me! Last season for example, they showed the world they could not only hang with the big dogs, but they could win. Watching the playoffs last season was incredible and I’m sure the Vikings are going to continue to have success in the future.
The last few off-seasons have seen some incredibly savvy moves by the Vikings, both in the draft and in free agency. The Vikings have arguably the most complete roster in the NFL, with a variety of veteran leadership and younger talent. I love that there’s a healthy mix of both, as the team looks poised to challenge the upper echelon of the NFC North in 2020.
The Vikings have an incredibly special place in my heart. They represent not only my hometown, butfootball pride in general. I’m incredibly proud of the team and I’m excited to see what the future holds. There’s no doubt in my mind the Vikings will remain one of the best teams in the NFL for years to come!
