nfl targeting rule

I couldn’t believe it, the NFL has this really weird rule called targetting. It’s like they think they can just tackle anybody and get away with it! It’s ridiculous. I guess it’s a safety issue, but they really need to make this rule clearer.

The way it works is a player places the head in a defenseless position, usually below the shoulders. This is considered to be “targetting” and can result in a 15-yard penalty or even an ejection. It’s supposed to be a way to help protect players and avoid head trauma. But the rule can be interpreted in a lot of different ways and I think that’s why it’s so confusing.

I’m not a fan of the NFL’s targetting rule. It’s very subjective and I don’t think it’s an effective way to protect players from getting injured. Plus, it can be used as a way to influence games, if you know what I mean. I wish the NFL would look into other ways to ensure player safety.

So why does the NFL even have this rule? Well, according to the NFL rulebook, they believe that head-to-head contact “poses an inherent risk of injury” and that the targetting rule is a way to reduce the incidence of injuries caused by this type of contact. However, it’s up to the judgement of the officials to decide whether or not a player is in violation of the targetting rule, so it’s hard to tell how effective the rule is.

It might be hard to tell who’s targetting who, but I’ll still be keeping an eye out for any targetting violations. Sure, it’s a subjective rule, but it’s still a rule that needs to be obeyed. If the NFL wants to keep its players safe, it’s their responsibility to make sure that players follow the targetting rules.

I know the NFL is trying to keep its players safe, but I think they need to come up with a better way than the targetting rule. Maybe they could focus more on education and training players on proper tackling techniques. Or maybe they could look into alternative equipment and ways to protect players from head trauma.

I know that enforcing a rule like the targetting rule is hard, but I think the NFL needs to take a harder stance on it. It’s the only way to ensure that players are being protected. I just hope that they come up with a better solution soon.
