best nfl

I am an avid NFL fan and I know a thing or two about who the best players are. The most amazing thing about the NFL is the Roger Staubachs, Tom Bradys and Lawrence Taylor’s of the world… the top talent who win multiple championships, redefine the positions they play, exceed statistical standards and set a new bar season to season.

I remember watching Ray Lewis, playing middle linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens and the passion and tenacity he brought to the field. He was such a dynamic leader that when he announced he would retire in 2012 there was a feeling of genuine loss. Not just from the Ravens’ organization, but from all of the NFL. He formed a brotherhood on the field and that brotherhood with him will never be forgotten.

Just like Ray Lewis, Jim Brown earned his spot amongst the best. He started his career with the Browns and no one had seen the likes of him. As he took the field, it was like he owned it. Watching Jim play was like a master paintbrush artist at work, drawing outside the lines and creating something spectacular. He pioneered what the game looks and feels like today and will be forever revered for it.

Then of course there’s Peyton Manning, widely considered one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game. His accolades and awards speak for themselves – multiple MVPs, five SuperBowl appearances and two SuperBowl wins. He may not have the most dynamic or flamboyant style of play but what he did do was make the game look effortless; it almost seemed like he couldn’t miss when it mattered most.

One of my earliest memories as an NFL fan was watching Emmitt Smith run the ball with the Dallas Cowboys. His ability to stand up to punishment, maintain his balance and guess when the hole would open was legendary. On top of that, he was humble and accepted the role of role model for younger players. He may not have the most flashy or elite stats but he had more of an impact on the game than most will ever know.

My favorite current player in the NFL is Patrick Mahomes – the young star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs. He is simply electric. With a high powered arm, a quick release and big play ability, Mahomes has done the unthinkable – create a new breed of quarterback. Watching him light up defenses, Mahomes seems unstoppable.

And then, of course, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even without the greatest quarterback on the planet, they have dominated the AFC North for decades. With a long history of winning and a roster full of talented players, it is no wonder they have been a powerhouse since the 1970s. They have created a good example of what teamwork and dedication can bring to fans and the rest of the NFL.

Finally, the San Francisco 49ers, and Jimmy Garoppolo. Like Mahomes and Manning, Garoppolo has proven to be an elite quarterback. He is calm under pressure and has a great command of the game. While the 49ers haven’t won a championship since 2012, they look poised to make a serious run at the title this season.

These are just some of the best teams and players in the NFL right now and it’s exciting to think about what’s in store for the coming season. With the new innovations NFL teams have implemented, such as the use of analytics to help players practice and adjust their game plans, the future of the NFL looks bright. There are so many talented athletes and more championships to be won and I can’t wait to witness it!
