It’s amazing to think how much retired NFL players make, and I am always amazed when I think about it. Growing up, I viewed professional sports players as superhuman athletes and I assumed that if they retired, they would live out their lives in relative poverty. I was wrong.
In reality, retired NFL players are some of the wealthiest men and women around. According to a Sports Illustrated article, the average retired player has a net worth of between 2 and $4 million dollars, which is 2 to 4 times more than the annual salary of the average American. That’s insane!
What’s even crazier, is that some retired NFL players are worth much more than the average. There have been numerous reports of retired players being millionaires several times over. Terry Bradshaw, for example, is said to be worth more than $25 million! It’s incredible when you think about it.
I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention the estimated $50 billion that the NFL generates every year. It’s incredible how much money players get for playing in the NFL. Of course, most of the money goes to the current players, but retired players are still able to benefit from the league’s prosperity.
So what do retired players do with all of this wealth? Well, some of them travel the world, investing in businesses, and doing charity work. Others live off of their earnings and split their time between various family and leisure activities. The possibilities are practically endless for these retired players.
At the end of the day, it’s heartwarming to see retired players living fulfilled and prosperous lives. They’ve sacrificed so much and earned the right to enjoy their lives and retire with grace. It’s amazing to see what they’ve achieved.
One of the ways that retired NFL players are able to make so much money is through post-career broadcasting. Many former players take up positions behind the microphone and call games with the same skill and enthusiasm that they had on the field. The salaries for these positions can be as high as seven figures and can keep players well off for years to come. Also, the players’ long-term endorsements are a major source of income as well.
Retired NFL players are also able to monetize their brand in the form of clothing lines, books, coaching and so much more. For successful players who have built a recognizable brand, or who partnered with the right companies, the opportunities can be plentiful.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, being a retired NFL player really pays off. The lifestyle, the travel, the fame, the money — it’s brought so much joy to players’ lives and it’s wonderful to see them living luxurious and rewarding lives.
