Football is one of my favorite sports to watch, and I am sure many of you have seen the National Football League (NFL) games. I am curious, where are the games played?
The NFL season is about 17 weeks long and includes 256 regular season games. All 32 teams in the league have home stadiums where the majority of their regular season games are held. That means there are many stadiums around the country that host NFL games.
Most NFL teams play in traditional stadiums that hold between 50,000 to 80,000 people. For those who live in a city that hosts an NFL team, they may be lucky enough to experience a game live at the stadium! The atmosphere at these stadiums on game day is unparalleled – it almost feels like you are in a carnival or concert. Everyone is hyped and ready to cheer for their team! Some teams even light off fireworks during the game, or they have large Jumbo Trons where they can show replays of big plays.
Furthermore, some NFL teams have alternative sites, like college football stadiums, where they host a select number of their games. This typically happens when teams are renovating their home stadium. The NFL also plays some games internationally, especially in Europe, Asia, and Mexico.
These are just some of the places where NFL games can be found. Aside from the stadiums, NFL games can also be seen on live TV and digital streaming services, or even on the radio. So even if you’re unable to attend an NFL game in person, there are still ways to stay up-to-date with all the action.
That leads us to the Super Bowl, which is the biggest game in the NFL every season. To this day, the Super Bowl is usually held at the same type of stadium where most NFL teams play but on a bigger scale. Since many people would want to attend the Super Bowl, the NFL has been hosting it at stadium locations that can hold upwards of 100,000 people. This means many people from all over the country, and sometimes even the world, can join in the greatest game in pro football.
To go along with the Super Bowl, the NFL recently started its own Pro Bowl, which is a game between the best players from the entire season. This is held every year once the season is finished. The Pro Bowl was initially held at the same venue as the Super Bowl, but starting in 2020 it has its own separate stadium location. Now, no matter where the Super Bowl is played, the Pro Bowl can always be seen in its own venue.
The NFL season takes us through many stadiums, and although I can’t be there to experience the games in person, there are still plenty of ways I can still watch and follow my favorite teams. What do you think of the NFL and the places it has taken us this season?
