nfl fixing games

It’s a shame that the NFL has to deal with accusations of game-fixing. As a fan, it’s disheartening to be constantly doubting the integrity of the game that I’ve grown to love. How can a game be so corrupted? I guess it’s a result of so many things that have gone wrong within the league, from unchecked gambling, to possible voter fraud in college and the NFL draft.

I remember watching an incident on the field the other night that made me question everything I believed about the game. A quarterback was about to make a touchdown when the refs called it back because of a “false start”. That made no sense to me, there was no shuffle going on, no offensive line movement. After the play had been reviewed, it was quickly determined that the false start call was wrong.

The worst part of it all is that it made me question the whole game. If we can’t trust the referees to make the right call, what else in the NFL could be corrupted? It’s hard to ignore the rumors that have been floating around, that some games have been “fixed” with the knowledge and assistance of team owners and league front office personnel.

The sad truth is that it may be impossible to prove who was actually involved in any tampering. The few people that may have knowledge will likely keep it to themselves, as is expected in any business trying to prevent scandal.

So, should fans just accept the fact that there may have been some games fixed, and move on? It really all depends. Until something concrete is found, it’s hard to get too riled up about it. Even if it’s true, it’s been going on for so long that it probably won’t change anything.

After all, history is filled with controversies and scandals, and NFL game-fixing has become the next one on the list. It just seems like a never-ending cycle. So what’s the point in getting too worked up over it? After all, we have no solid proof that anyone has actually done anything to tamper with any games.

I guess the only real option is to accept it, and keep supporting my favorite teams, no matter what the outcome. I’m sure I’m not the only one out there disgusted by the potential of game-fixing.

I just hope that the NFL takes these accusations seriously, and does whatever they can to put a stop to it. They should focus more on ensuring fair play and safety, rather than allowing gambling to run rampant, and possible cheating of any sort to occur. To make sure that all is fair for the players and fans alike.

It’s too bad that some could feel the need to rig games for either monetary gain or self-promotion. With so much money and so much on the line, the idea that someone could potentially tamper with an outcome can be difficult to stomach.

It’s absolutely vital that the NFL takes whatever action it can to protect its integrity. Measures must be taken to ensure that there is no tampering with games, from officials to players, as we must trust the fairness and honesty off of the game. If proper accountability is held for everyone involved, then the truth is sure to follow and the perception that these games are fixed can be diminished.

It’s just not right that some players and teams are suspect of suspicious behavior, that throws us fan’s experiences watching the game for a loop. We just want to enjoy the game, not have to worry about someone manipulating the results. Even if there has been game fixing in the past, it doesn’t matter. We need a fair and honest game that is safe and fun to watch.
