So, can Kyler Murray enter the NFL Draft? Well, the question has been on the minds of football fans ever since the former QB for the Oklahoma Sooners won the Heisman Trophy. It’s no secret that Kyler Murray is an exceptionally gifted athlete, having led his team to the Foreman’s title and into the college football playoffs.
I personally think he can enter the draft and have a high chance of being picked up by an NFL team. He’s vastly undersized for a quarterback, no question, but his ability to make plays on the fly more than compensate for his lack of physical stature. If Murray enters the draft, some team will take a chance on him – no doubt about it!
When I watch Kyler Murray play, I’m reminded of a young Russell Wilson. His athleticism and quick feet in and out of the pocket allow him to make plays that defy logic. His vision and accuracy on the field are things of beauty. His ability to extend the play and find an open receiver down the field is remarkable. Of course, there is always room for growth, something that I’m sure he is well aware of.
I also believe Kyler will benefit from the tutelage of an established NFL coach. He’ll be able to learn from the greats and perhaps refine his game even further, which is something you can never discount. A perfectionist by nature, Kyler would likely thrive in such an environment.
The question of whether Kyler should enter the draft early or wait a while is always going to be there. This is a decision that only Kyler and his family can make. It ultimately comes down to his health, the opportunity presented to him, and the Team and system he’s comfortable with.
What’s really exciting to me is the notion that we could be witnessing the emergence of a new star in the NFL. I’ve already seen Kyler perform at a high level in college and have no doubt he can do it in the pros. While the NFL is a different animal, I think Murray can make a smooth transition and become a major contributor should he decide to go pro.
Whether or not Kyler wants to take that leap is a decision only he can make. He likely already knows if the NFL is the right move for him or not, so we should await his decision with confidence whatever it may be.
