Wow, I can’t believe it has been almost 20 years since NFL season 2001! I was an NFL fan even back then, but back then I bought paper tickets for games.​ It brings back so many memories thinking about it.​

The Patriots ended up winning that Super Bowl 20-17 on a last minute field goal.​ It was an exciting game and had the entire country watching with bated breath.​ For those of us who were staunch Patriots fans from the beginning, winning that Super Bowl was the beginning of a dynasty.​

The Rams, on the other hand, made it to their second Super Bowl of that era.​ They had also won in the 1999 season against the Tennessee Titans.​ The Rams ended up retiring players like Marshall Faulk, Kurt Warner and Isaac Bruce after that Super Bowl.​

Reflecting back on NFL season 2001, it’s amazing to me how much has changed since then.​ Now teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers exist today because of the hard work they put in during that season.​ It’s also remarkable to think about all the games in one season!

And the other thing I was thinking about was how much more advanced technology was by the end of the season compared to the beginning.​ Teams and plays were starting to be tracked via satellite, which meant that there was room for better analysis and strategy.​ You see, not only did the number of games increase, but the amount of data available was increasing too.​

I remember when I was young playing pretend football in the yard with my little brother.​ I’d always run around trying to make the most tackles, dreaming of becoming an NFL star one day.​ Now, I’m grown and watching who are the real pros tackling the opponents in this iconic sport.​ Did you know that the all-time NFL career tackle leader is Ray Lewis, with an astonishing 2,637 successful tackles? Not to mention that he is also the leader in single season tackles, with 184 in 2003 and 187 in 2004! It’s truly remarkable how Ray, as a middle linebacker, was able to use that tackle power to become such a successful player in his career.​

A number of years ago, he made history as the first linebacker to lead the NFL in tackles for seven straight seasons.​ What’s more, he was also selected to a whopping 13 Pro Bowls and 10 All-Pro selections.​ Now that’s resilience! Ray’s one of a kind tackle total begins to put together why he’s considered one of the greatest linebacker of all time.​Amazingly, Luke Kuechly is the only player (so far) to surpass his career total tackle number.​ He has 2,888 tackles, which is an astonishing 251 more tackles than Ray Lewis.​

That’s an incredible amount of tackles! I think it’s just a testament to Kuechly’s impressive skill set.​ But, if we back it up a bit, Dick Butkus was the first to secure his name as one of the greatest tackle leaders in the NFL, with a career total of 2157.​ Another amazing record-holder is Junior Seau, who played for the Chargers mainly and notched 1845 tackles in his colorful career.​

When it comes to the single season tackle record, though, the numbers are a bit different.​ Nowhere near as high as Lewis’ mark of 184 but still pretty impressive.​ The leader in single-season tackles is David Harris, who recorded 166 tackles in 2008 while playing for the Jets.​ Coming in second is Brian Urlacher, with his 163 tackles in 2002, and then Kuechly’s 2016 total of 163.​ So, Harris still stands atop the list for most single-season tackles!

What do I think about it all? Well, I think that it is amazing and incredible how these NFL stars have been able to accomplish such outstanding numbers.​ It’s a testament to their dedication and hard work, and their incredible drive for success.​ They have continued to push boundaries, and set records, and it really is inspiring – just thinking about what they have gone through to do what they’ve done.​

Well, I recently encountered an interesting situation at an NFL stadium.​ I was at a game a few weeks ago, and all of a sudden it starts raining.​ Everyone around me was scrambling to find some sort of cover.​ Some people were grabbing jackets, others were sharing umbrellas, and others were desperately searching for cans or any other pieces of trash they could find to hold over their heads.​ Meanwhile I just stood there wondering if umbrellas were actually allowed in the stadium.​

I expressed my feelings to the people around me but no one could answer my questions.​ Did this stadium allow umbrellas? Was I just about to get yelled at, and kicked out for standing under my umbrella? I had to find out for sure! So, I decided to ask the nearest security guard.​

To my surprise, the security guard said that it was permitted to use umbrellas in the stadium.​ What a relief! With that being said, I had to ask a follow-up question: why wouldn’t umbrellas be allowed in a stadium? He gave me a good explanation: umbrellas can obstruct the view of the people sitting behind the person with the umbrella.​

This made perfect sense as the umbrellas can take up a lot of space and block people’s view if they’re not careful.​ Yeah sure, it might be raining and they might need some coverage, but it doesn’t mean they get an all access front row seat.​

However, there is a way you can use an umbrella and still avoid any issues.​ The guard then advised me to be mindful and respectful of other people’s right to see the action on the field.​ As long as you have an appropriate sized-umbrella, and you’re using it in a manner that doesn’t interfere or disrupt others, then you should be fine.​

It turns out umbrellas are indeed allowed in the NFL stadium as long as they’re used properly.​ It’s one of those instances where common sense and courtesy come into play.​ Keeping the stadium environment and the experience of others in mind, you can use umbrellas to your hearts content without any issues.​

Now, what about after the game is over? Are you still allowed to bring umbrellas in the stadium when the game is over? Wow, I never knew this but I recently heard that the NFL has been using drones in sport matches.​ I wonder why would the NFL use drones? Are they going to give us any new perspectives on the game? It’s a bit weird, but intriguing!

Maybe they want to get a better view of how the plays develop from above and have more control over the decisions they make.​ Perhaps they hope that these drones could help them adjust their strategy and provide a better game experience for their fans.​

Then again, perhaps they are simply trying to keep up with the times and use all the new technology available to them.​ A drone represents the modern way of looking at things and could help them keep up with the trend of what’s happening in this world.​

I guess the most important thing is that it doesn’t look like the NFL is using the drones as an excuse to replace the referees.​ It’s more like they are trying to enhance the current system, not replace it.​ That’s a good thing, because football wouldn’t be the same without the energetic referees.​
