best offense in nfl history

I’m sure any NFL fan has definitely asked themselves which team throughout history had the greatest offense. It’s an interesting debate, and there are a good number of contenders for the title. I’ll walk you through the 5 most notable teams and give my opinion on which is the best offense in NFL history.

Let’s start with the 1998 Minnesota Vikings, a team that holds a special place in my heart. This team featured perennial All Pro QB’s Randall Cunningham, Cris Carter, and Robert Smith, and they were easily the most explosive offense of the time. They scored over 500 points, had the second highest total offense in the league, led the league in passing yards, and set the regular season record for most points scored by an offense in a season.

Next up is the 2007 New England Patriots, one of the most dominant teams of this era. Led by legendary QB Tom Brady, this record-shattering team cruised through most of their opponents with a high-powered offense that became widely-known as the “Patriot Way”. They scored 589 points, won 18 games, had three 1,000 yard receivers, and smashed the single season record for points scored by an offense with 75 touchdowns.

Third, let’s talk about the 1999 St. Louis Rams, who shocked the world with their “Greatest Show on Turf” offense. With QB Kurt Warner at the helm, and future Hall of Famers Isaac Bruce and Marshall Faulk, this team could score at will. They scored an impressive 540 points, had the highest total offense in the league, and led the league in rushing yards.

Fourth, we have the 2011 New Orleans Saints, who recorded the greatest offensive season in NFL history. Led by superstar QB Drew Brees, this record-breaking offense set all-time records for most passing yards, net yards, completions, and completion percentage in a season. The Saints were almost unstoppable during this time, scoring over 500 points and had the fourth highest total offense in the league.

Finally, we have the 2011 Green Bay Packers, who were one of the best offenses in NFL history. Led by brilliant QB Aaron Rodgers, this team was almost perfect. They scored 560 points which was the highest total in the league, had the highest total offense in the league, and was the first team to have a 5,000 yard passer, two 1,000 yard receivers, and 1000-yard rusher in the same season.

In my opinion, the 2007 New England Patriots are the best offense in NFL history. They set the record for most points scored in a season, played a very dominant brand of football, and had one of the greatest QB’s of all time leading them. Plus, the Patriots had arguably the best offensive line of this millennium, which makes them an even more impressive team.
